Today ...finally dry enough to get in the field ..on the way 45 minuets to my farm I passed 100's of wind-rowed hay cuts, ..freshly prepped ground ready for planting
My mission was to sprayed my early beans that were desperately in need of spraying for grass and ****erbur ..everything was perfect weather wise ..light wind ..warm ..mostly sunny .. no rain till Thursday
Some of the fellows waved at me as I drove by pulling my water tank n sprayer
I met the rain about half way back to the house ...wipers at highest setting speed wise just to see ..dang I will take some heat for that rain for sure ..may skip that coffee shop for a couple weeks! ..not to mention my time and 2 1/2 gallons of Gly and a bunch of water and fuel g o n e :boohoo:dang weather "guessers"
Gly needs 4 hrs minimum for a good kill. You can get away with 3 hrs or less if you use a good surfactant/sticker. Some formulas advertise you can get a good kill in about an hour, but that's more marketing than reality. Most times you're just making them stronger and more resistant to gly by not killing them.
when I set out ..not a cloud in the sky and the usual 5% chance the weather guessers always stick in a forecast .....
Rain safe time ,,everyone can be right ...I use a COOP plain label ...over the years it has slowly reduced the rain safe time ...several years ago when private label gly became available I think rain safe time was way high time wise as in day(s) ...
but as patents wear off and additional chemicals can be added to the "package" you buy as a 2.5 gallon concentrated jug ...rain safe times have dropped ..what I used yesterday was carry over last years Gly which has a 2 hour rain safe window
I picked up a new jug on the way to the farm with the new term "PLUS" on it ..it is a one hour window on rain safe
I'll just tell you that we know that most of the uptake occurs when the droplets on the leaf are still wet. After the spray has dried, not much uptake is happening. The "plus" probably means that it has twice as much surfactant which also helps with uptake.
If it was on for 30min or so I'd not worry.
