This is the first foreign auto I've ever owned.1983 Toyota 4x4 pickup. Must say its pretty darned cool. Bought it in Springfield from a guy who moved from Cali a few years back. Got the dog a new box too, and I've ordered a custom plate bumper and winch for the front. This thing is gonna make one heck of a hunting rig.

T-Bag looks unhappy in this pic, probably because I made him sit there instead of letting him down right away to get after tree rats.

Check out the episode of "Top Gear" where they try to kill a Hi-Lux..couldn't do it..even put it on top of a 13 story building that was being blown up...drove it out of the debris.

Hmm, might could work something out. My bumper is being fabbed as we speak by a guy in Washington, then it will have to ship here, then I would have to check my bank account to see if it needs a blood transfusion...:rof2:

I would have to know the brand/type, what kind of line, remote solenoid or integrated solenoid, etc. I'll send ya a U2U when the bumper gets here.

I'd like to find something like that for my 15 YO son. That would be perfect for him.

Yep, it would be great for a kid. The manual trans is so easy to operate, so it'd be a great vehicle to learn to drive a stick. And it would stand up well to a teenager's abuse! I think I would want one with power steering for a kid, which mine does not have. Here's some things to look for with these 1st and 2nd gen (79-87) trucks:

79-81 looks like mine but with round headlights. I believe 79-80 had 20r motors and everything after that has the 22r or 22re.

Late 81-83 have the square headlights.

1984 started the 2nd-gen trucks, like Marty McFly's in BTTF.

1985 is the most highly sought for wheeling and rock climbing because it is the last year of solid front axle and first year for fuel injection.

1986-87 have independent front suspension and fuel injection.

I'll have to try to find some pics of my old rock rig,
    79 toyota
20R engine, 4.88 gears, 7inch suspension lift, 3 inch body, homemade rollbar/flatbed, 35 inch boggers. go anywhere you want but top speed was about 55mph on hwy and it really needed pwr steering.
