Looks like a golden retriever, or it could possibly be on a stroll from the dakotas

I will vote not a bobcat. There appears to be a distinct color change from body to belly hair . 02

i tried to zoom the picture a bit but of course that did not work. the ears look more like a bobcat , with as you say a little bit longer tail. if it is a lion it is a small lion.

that would certainly help. That road goes directly to the cuivre river where there has been rumored sitings for years. Hopefully it will be investigated and a news release will follow.

House/feral cat? Maybe it is nearer than appears, kinda like "long-arming" does. It appears it may be closer than the tree and far closer than the road than it initially appears. Or it is just the common cougar/bobcat hybrid. :)

That looks like a powerful left front lion leg to me. There also appears to be a shoulder blade bulge, but hard to tell due to the blurry artifacts of a crappy photo along the back. Tail looks like a rope.

I am serious on good clear track pics in my post above. Would love to see them with something to scale them by. Track pattern would also be cool.

You might say I am somewhat of a cougar nut. Had one in my scope at 80 yards on 9 power back in 87. Then I treed one in 98.(That will wake you up at 1:00 am when you are in the woods alone.) About 4 other sightings I would give $100 a piece if there was a way to know 100% for sure.

Our farm is just a few miles up the road and my cousin seen one in 2016 60 yards away while bowhunting there. We have found tracks a few times as well so it would not surprise me one bit.
