MDS Auction Saltwater Fishing Trip with Boogan1

Last fall I donated a charter fishing trip to the MDS auction. Don Juan was the high bidder and he and his family joined me on the boat today for their charter. The seas were a little bumpy for the start but calmed down for a pretty enjoyable day. Since my deck hand isn't here yet (my son Zane who lives in MO) I enlisted the help of a fellow fisherman Captain Cody Hankins of All Out Fishing Charters. As we were leaving the Destin pass this morning we saw flying fish busting out of the water. We put some trolling lines in the water and hooked up on some Spanish Mackerel. After some hot action the bite slacked off so we headed toward some of the close reef structures hoping to catch a Little Tuny (False Albacore tuna). We managed to find a few and after the last one came aboard everyone had a turn on the rod reeling a fish in .

We decided to push further out and catch something else so we headed for the Mingo spots. The first spot was just trash fish so we tried another. That spot we caught nothing but short trigger fish so we moved again. The third spot was the charm and we were soon catching mingos, white snapper and sand perch. The action was fast and furious and the fish were coming so fast Cody and I could hardly keep up with fish coming over the rail and keeping hooks baited. After several of them wore out from catching fish we decided to call it a trip.

What a great crew to fish with, we had a lot of fun, talked a lot of trash (I think Nanna laid it on the heaviest) and came home with over 60 fish.
