I don't know why but I have never really liked shooting at Marshall. Maybe it was the bino thing, I don't know. If a bunch of you guys are gonna be there I may sneak up and meet ya'll. If you guys let me shoot with ya, I can make you look like pros. Anybody good at looking for arrows that lost their way????

Ya know I have always heard alot of hollering about not being able to use the bino's at the Marshall shoots, and still don't understand what the problem with most people is. There is only one target that I can think of last year where the bino's might have helped with a better shot. Guess they kinda get spoiled.

Doesn't matter to me which way they go it's a good shoot and a nice range down there. I just figured, if the shooters knew where the kill zone is or used the 3d cards they wouldn't have a problem with not useing the bino's. Guess they finally got tired of hearing all the moaning.

MO Boy, I've seen you shoot, your not fooling anybody:hysterical::hysterical:

I do know I heard several people say they were attending a different shoot farther away because of the bino thing last year, maybe that had something to do with it. Some people say binos slow things down, some say they don't make a difference. I don't know myself. I have seen guys get on the stake and look thru their binos for what seemed like an eternity, nock an arrow, look thru their binos again, then shoot. I have seen open class shooters at marshall get on the stake, draw their bow, look the target over, let down, regroup, then draw their bow and shoot. I believe there is a time limit on shooting once you touch the stake and I am almost positive that you are not suppose to use binos once you have touched the stake. I guess no matter what the rules are there are always gonna be a few guys that slow things down. It will be interesting to see how Marshall and all its shooters get along with the new rule. Hope it goes well.

Even a rookie knows where the kill is on a Mckenzie target.....I think the bino's are a crutch...When they are not allowed at a shoot, the board is even...But, you can now use em in Marshall......I guess time will tell how much more time it will take!!!

Fireman, I have to agree with ya and thats even coming from a wheelie man. Don't see too many traditional guys carrying them. But this old guys eyesight is "as good once as it always was":hysterical: and guess I'll use em if they are going to let us. Sure it will slow down the shoot a bit, but if they stick with the guidelines of most shoots and push the time issue it shouldn't be to bad.

Mo-Boy, Deermans does allow the binos, if I remember right it's up to 8X. For the most part the rules are pretty close to other organizations. The major difference is the scoring. That and the fact that there may be obstructions. A good course setup will have you shooting from more than just the standing position. You can expect to make some shots from any position that you may encounter while hunting, kneeling, leaning one direction, or maybe even backwards:eek: One thing is for sure....it's a blast.

The only thing I like about binos is if you are inexperienced like myself then it helps you learn where the vital area is placed on the target.

I shot the Marshall shoot last year and didn't seem to make a difference on the bino's. There was one target that binos would of been helpful on. The target was quartering away and we couldn't tell if it was a quartering away placement of the vitals, and the only reason we questioned it was because a target earlier that day that was quartering away was not a quartering away target and it cost us all points.

MoBowman correct me if I'm wrong.

Amen, I'll say, it was a great time. Punkus will be there with me again on the 19th, got a bow picked up cheap via the net for him, he's coming down this weekend to pick it up. We are thinking about going up to Randys to see what kinda deals he has on stuff to outfit it with.

I am definitely going to try and make the shoot on the 19th work permitting. We are shutting the FairFax bridge down for repairs in K.C. and have got to stay until it is complete. They always plan these type of things when you've got plans. Oh Well...

So, MoBowman is Bodoodle gonna make it?

I would like to know how many we may have, that way hopefully we can all meet at a certain time and get to visit a bit before or after we shoot. My wife may be attending, it will be her first shoot if she decides to make it. My uncle may come it is his birthday, so Punkus and I talked a bunch of you know what and told him we would school him on his b-day at the shoot. Don't know if that was enough to make him come. Who knows, but it is fun trying to get a rise out of him. He hasn't shot 3D since the 80's. He is the killer of the family and I swear he has ice in his veins so I'm sure he would be stiff competition for the rest of us even though he hasn't killed foam for twenty years.

MoBowman, thanks for the tip on the website also, I checked it out, looks like they got some good deals. How do you like that sight?

BTH, doesn't look like Bob is going to make Marshall, Randy is having his shoot on the 18th and Bob is going to go to that one. I would like to make both but just can't. So I figured, if abunch from MWT were going to Marshall, then I would hit that one. Besides it's a bit closer and if the shoot is over early enough I'll slide up to the farm in Slater and look for some sheds:D

BTW, I love the sight and I guess Bodoodle did also, he just ordered one.
