OH boy!!!!!!! One of the main reasons ML season was moved ("Desire for people to hunt in the snow") may come to truth the first year. I'm not cutting on anybody, but I have to laugh that reason was really a good reason to move it. One of these years when we get another one of those early 1980's winters when by mid-December there is about 12 inches of snow and ice on the ground for weeks on end and the temperature never gets above about 3 degrees with a 30 mile an hour wind blowing............... then we'll see how many die hards are wishing for snow to hunt in. Don't get me wrong the season needed to be moved, I just think that it got moved to the extreme on the late end and having Christmas smack in the middle of it is pretty foolish. It was pretty ridiculous to be out the 3 days after the rifle madness but there could have been a happy medium that it was moved to.... like maybe the first or second Saturday in December. Oh, I forgot. We need to slaughter does for another 10 days then.

I'll be heading towards Chariton County tomorrow for the ML season by myself. Unfortunately, my son doesn't get out of school until Tuesday afternoon so he will not be able to come. Its going to be a long 12 hour drive. I have never hunted in the snow before. We don't get much of the white stuff down here. I'm hoping the deer will be hitting the bean fields that were harvested the week before rifle season. They sure weren't giving them much attention then. Of course, the high winds and flooding rains may have had a little to do with that. Good luck to all of you.
