Daddy won't you take me down to Muhlenberg County, down by the Green River where Paradise lay?
No, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in askin'... Mr. Peabody's coal train done hauled it away.

Love that song. Have no idea where Muhlenberg County is, though.

And the Green River is about 300 yards East of me.

I thought the Paradise reference was to its idyllic setting. No, huh?

Well sometimes we'd travel right down the Green River
To the abandoned old prison down by Adrie Hill
Where the air smelled like snakes and we'd shoot with our pistols
But empty pop bottles was all we would kill.

Hope you do better than John Prine did!

Got down about 11. Was back in the stand about 1:30. Getting to be a long day with no deer sightings. Of course it's 80 degrees and the wind is blowing 20 mph. Not sure what I expected.

As long as you're there, stop in at Uncle Lee's store. Lots of excellent taxidermy in the place, and a pretty good gun selection, too, along with every other thing for sale in all the world. Hardware, furniture, plumbing supplies, hunting clothes and work clothes, you name it, Uncle Lee's sells it.

The prices aren't quite as good as Whittaker's, up by Owensboro, but pretty fair. Peabody Coal has lots of good hunting ground.

Glenn, I was in Uncle Lee's about a month ago. That place is awesome! And I'm on the Peabody WMA as we speak. :D
