i been thinkin on gettin a few crawdads from the creek and usein them as some bait. what you be the best way to hook one? im trying to catch big large mouths. so i will be jiggin them mostly.

We used to take a #4 or 6 aberdeen or tru-turn hook and run it just
underneath (ventral) the center of the legs so that the eye is just under
his chin when your done and the hook is pointed down. Done right, he will
be kickin for quite a while.

Carolina rig them on this set would be my suggestion for largemouths but a smaller
crawdad hooked CAREFULLY underneath the dorsal cephalathorax and
soaked under a foam cork is an automatic smallie on the Meramec. :cheers:

My experience only so take with a grain of salt. Most largemouth fisherman are
stubborn and dont use live bait at all.

yeah i dont care for bait fishin, im more into artifical lures and soft plastics, but these bass dont eat nothing! if i cant catch one with a live crawdad. i dont know what to do maybe flyfish them? i thrown everything in front of them. i mostly sight fish'em. all i can think of is crawdads, or a fly.

I second that! I just got back home from a week long TDY in New Orleans and I do believe that I ate my weight in boiled crawfish while I was down there. Mmm Mmm Mmm good!:cheers:
