Ladder Stand For Bow Hunting?

2240 Views 20 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  Wibb
Looking for recommendations on a new ladder stand for bow season that wont break the bank? I shoot a compound, no xbow.

*I have a BigGame ladder stand stand, but its 550 miles away in Mississippi now.

Thanks!

River's Edge Bowman isn't bad.

Look for ones that have a platform that goes back to the tree.

Some cheap ones I bought long ago didn't and they were a pain in the arse.

Ditto!

I now have three.:D
I’ve got about 20 single ladder stands that I bought over the last 10-15 years for an average of about 60-70 dollars each. The best ones are the oldest ones. Larger foot platforms, better tree contact and attachment and heavier gauge materials. If you’re a bigger guy I’d be pretty wary of the el cheapo stands and pay attention to the max weight.

I rarely sit down in a tree stand so a feature I’d want on any new ones I buy is the flip up seat so I can get it out of the way and snug my body up against the tree trunk.

Also if you buy more than one get a 15-16 foot model and a 18-22 foot model. You’ll enjoy having different height options for different trees and terrain.

Big Game Spector XT. Thank me later. Full platform, fold back seat, mesh seats. Under $200.
Full platform or none at all for me. I hate cheap ladder stands and midget sized platforms. Some of the new "1.5" man stands are really nice but obviously more expensive.
That said I'm primarily a hang on hunter.

Im 6'1" and 220, I prefer the larger stand.

Ive used a climber for many years, but last year hurt my shoulder climbing and cut gun season short. I don't like the cables on the hang ons.
I have 4 of these. https://m.fieldandstreamshop.com/p/...PL7SycX3r59vMFnjMoLNL3NAxY5LZicBoC1VkQAvD_BwE

Xstand makes nice sturdy ones too but they're pretty heavy getting them set.

I really like the X-Stand Jawhawk. They are expensive but you can get them around 200 after season. They are heavy but it's great if you have kids. I have a similar Muddy that is 18ft instead of 20ft. Mesh seats and full platform are the way to go.

I like this one as well. Gets you up a little higher than most ladder stands and very comfortable and quiter than the cheap ladder stands.
I've have a few of the Sniper Solitude treestands. Pretty good stand for the price.

I'll check the Columbia store..but that shipping deal might be the same as paying Columbia taxes

nope its not..
big dog 22', you're welcome, if I had a mess of these would sell my climber!
Bass pro and Cabela's have the Spector on sale for $170
I'm a big fan of the xstand. I will pay a little more for the extra safety!!!
