Many of you already saw this on the FB so I apologise in advance for the duplicate.

I've come to look forward to putting family and friends on deer more than myself at this point and my baby girl is always number 1 on the list. I had been running cams on multiple farms all summer long just like always and was more prepared then ever for this year's youth season.

I had a really good deer on my north farm and had been pushing Leigha hard to hunt him which she did for 1 night. She passed about a dozen does but the big 10 never showed.

The next day she went through about a thousand trail cam pics from multiple properties and for some reason set her sights on 1.5 old jacked up deer we had named "funky buck". He had lived on this farm all summer and I had no doubts we would see him our first night. When I asked Leigha why she liked him so much she stated "because he has fuzzy antlers". Lesson learned for dad...for a 9 yr old it's not about the score.

Got set up about 4:30 pm and I forgot my phone. By 6:45 the bean field was filling up. I watched her pass a couple of does, twin 3pts and a low 120s 8pt identical to the one she killed last year. Finally with light fading Funky Buck stepped into the field. At 83yds she laid him down. 5 deer, 3 bucks, 2 states by 9 years old. I am so proud of this little girl.

By the way she is a prostaff member of #HFBO and honorary member of the "secret FB group". The last 3 years her early season achievements have set the tone for our success;)

Awesome experience for you both. I know my favorite hunts in my life involved my kids. Some even ended with a deer.

I like the fact that she doesn't group text when she kills one, she just calls
