Tinkerin around w/ ideas today on painting.. thought I would share them...

both somewhat of a skyline type patter w alot of gray in them although the one thats been named "mirage" got a lil too much black in it, i still do like the overall idea.. here it is..

next, i like the idea, up close its just "blocky" is all I could come up with, however, from a distance, it blends quite nicely.. another nice option to tinker w/..

I really like the pattern on the first one. I think it could be really interesting with some different colors as well.

Thanks guys.. and yeah dwb.. im planning on painting up one of my other shotguns w/ the first pattern but more of springtime greens, browns and tan...

Very cool stuff. Almost looks like the new Marine Corps issue BDUs (digital camo).

What type of paint and topcoat do you use to prevent wear and chipping?

I use krylon paints, have had the best luck w/ them wear wise... Top coats, I use a matte krylon clear coat.. 2-3 coats of it.. makes it very durable

When the barrel gets hot does it seem to effect the paint?

Don't have to shoot very often to hit the target...:sniper:

I would think that if you got your barrel that hot...you would probably need a new barrel.:cool3:

Although i have gotten my shotgun barrels quite warm whilst watching ducks and no problemos... paints still aok... and trust me, i watch... and watch.. and watch.. (fyi.. watch means, look, shoot, miss)

Yup, I was thinking your shotty not the sniper rifle. Good to hear you have put it to the test "watching" birds. :rotfl:

yup yup... put SEVERAL boxes through the mossy last fall / winter and still good to go
