Stands are all set, Shooting lanes are all cleared.
Now to shoot my bow more.
Deer season eve is upon us once again.
It's time to make a new journal.

    Last post of 2014

Looks like I will get 34 hunts in again this year.
but this year I didn't hunt December but one sit and January will only manage 1 sit.
5 deer killed and my biggest goal achieved led to less motivation to make hunts priority over family obligations.

It has been my best year ever hands down. So many goals met and opportunities to kill deer this year have been many.

Stay tuned as I would like to end the season with another bow kill on the last day of the season.
I'll be hunting my home food plot ladder stand where the season typically begins with an early season archery kill, this year Zane was riding shotgun for that one on September 18.

What an amazing season last fall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't imagine it getting much better than that!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Goals Last year

    1. Rhiannon and Zane kill a deer
    2. Sam kills a deer
    3. Guide at least one disabled event, hopefully two
    4. Kill a wallhanger
    5. Kill 5 does for the freezer (lots of demand for that summer sausage now)
    6. Kill a deer with the 25-06
    7. Get drawn for the management hunt and kill a deer with a crossbow
    8. Kill a deer with the hawken 50 cal
    9. Share hunts with as many friends as possible
    10. Kill a deer on the farm I'm doing habitat work on.
    11. Kill a deer with the crossbow.

Goals 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 were met. 1 could have been but the sun was in the scope for Rhiannons attempt at an 8pt. 8 is going to be a priority this year.

So here are the new goals for 2015.

    1. Rhiannon and Zane kill a deer
    2. Sam kills a deer
    3. Guide at least one disabled event, hopefully two
    4. Kill a wallhanger
    5. 5 deer for the freezer (lots of demand for that summer sausage now)
    6. Cousin kills another deer in KC
    7. Kill a deer with the hawken 50 cal
    8. Share hunts with as many friends as possible
    9. Kill a deer on the farm I'm doing habitat work on.

Just wasn't feeling it last night with the heat and rain forecast.
Wasn't sure about tonight either till the wife and kids left me alone to attend a birthday party.
    So here I am.
Starting the season 4 days late.
Maybe the latest start I've ever had.
I killed a doe sept 18 last year.
Usually zip one first few days of the season every year.
Still have some to eat from last season so not too worried yet...
Turnips are pretty hit and miss
Wheat does look pretty good already!!
And have a lot of volunteer clover that survived the roundup

Hope to notch a tag this evening regardless.

Man it's great to be on the hunt once more

May have been the first time I haven't seen a deer here early season.
Did hear turkeys fly to roost

Can't believe it's only the second hunt of the year.
    Depressing

    Anywho

    Great sit

    3 raccoons
    2 bobcats
4 deer at 10 yards (took the trail opposite I expected, too late to adjust when they committed, no shot)
Several turkeys roosted inside 75 yards.

Oos Cousin had world war 3, saw 12-13, shot one dead.

    Successful trip
