He said nothing that made me change my stance. I still say it's much ado about nothing. And I certainly disagree with him that it will somehow paint "real hunters" as anything different than we already are in the circles that he speaks of.

I wish the hail someone would say something to me that would allow me to see this as something more than a stupid idea cause I'm really tired of not "getting" what everyone is so fired up about.

Ok let me see if I can say something LOL

How about it's not good for the heritage/roots of the sport. I don't want my boys to think that's the way hunting is supposed to be. Instead of "pro" gressing and introducing more and more gagitry and commercialism into the sport I would rather see it regress into being harder and more noble. Give our kids something to admire and idolize.

Anti-gagitry and commercialism? Now THERE is someone that speaks a language that I can understand. I'm with ya on that part 7X!

I don't really concur. I still think it is just a stupid idea.

In a nutshell, if we would have all went about our every day lives and ignored this the end result would have prolly been the same. It's a stupid idea and it would have taken care of itself in pretty short order.

Bottome line, and listen close there is a lot bigger threat out there to hunting and fishing than anything the WHA would have caused. :)

Agreed that there are prolly bigger threats..

But we should be mindful and vigilant about EVERYTHING that threatens the
integrity of our sport as it was originally intended.

Just more fuel for the antis and press folks to stoke the fire with.. every little bit hurts.

I have to agree with this statement. After spending the last week in the Socialist Republic of New Jersey and the Communistwealth of Virginia and seeing what the inhabitants of this region have to put up with, in regards to fishing and hunting regulations, I know that the Anti's have a firm foothold. A lot of treehuggers and anti-hunting wackos are becoming part of the legislative and regulatory process. It was a wake up call to me.:eek::eek:

You know what rat. You are right, (I'm about to talk in circles here.)

The fact that people got so up in arms about this thing proves that apathy is not as alive and well as I thought. In fact, this may have been a good thing because it brought people outta the woodwork and showed the outdoor community what kinda clout they really have when they mobilize.

However I am not yet ready to declare that apathy is dead in the hunting community. :frown:

Well.. I just hope, as you suggest, that this thing will fold in on itself quietly..
