He said all day hunting was not being considered before they see what the hatch does. He also said it would take several years for the population to recover if production improves. So I would say that not many will want their finger prints on a season expansion when we have several years (at least) of reduced hunting quality in our future.Did Jason say that?
Yes. Providing added opportunity . Added opportunity means added harvest pressure. Thats the part some wont want their finger prints on. If they "add opportunity" and production doesnt improve a lot of hunters will blame the lower numbers on all day hunting. And if harvest increases they will be partially right. That is what I thought, but he sure went on for a while about the advantages of all day hunting giving opportunities for those that only have time in the afternoon in this short video.
Isnt he the one who gave the deer regs presentation at the last commission meeting ?Hawk, are you sure Jason Isabelle moved to deer biology? I thought Kevyn Wiskirchen was the current MDC deer biologist. He was as of February of this year.
Darren
I think closer to seven years.Dude you've been saying it's coming soon for the last 5 years.
He will predict it every year. If they go to all day hunting in 2035 he will go taadaa. So is that prediction any less ridiculous than the the APR one you were *****ing about before?
I dont dont think they know myself. We had really good weather last year and posted the second lowest phr on record. Its a learning experience for everybody because this is the first time in modern wildlife management we have been on this side of the population movement (decline) . Its going to be interesting to see what comes out of the research thats taking place now and is going to take place in the coming years.per what I gather is to have a larger number of turkeys is to have good weather for nesting but bad weather for hunting, aka bunch of arm chair hunters
You won't be so bitter once you divide by 8.ADTH is the dumbest idea ever from a resource management perspective. The only reasons to do it are generate more$ for MDC with OOS hunters...its bull****. We have had a decline nearly every year in birds since 2004. Better be shed of Isbell and get someone in that job who wants to see an increase in a healthy resource.
The good weather by itself isnt enough based on what we saw this year.per what I gather is to have a larger number of turkeys is to have good weather for nesting but bad weather for hunting, aka bunch of arm chair hunters
