It's a shame

Most of you don't know me. I have only met a few of you in person. But I am a fun loving guy who focuses on teaching my kids the outdoors and hate injustice. I used to have a passion for online hunting forums and sharing information, and often wonder why I haven't posted on MWT in so long. I tell myself that I am busy. That work or kids activities have pulled me away. But the real answer comes abundantly clear once you post anything on MWT.

I started using hunting forums back in 2004 when I wanted to get into bowhunting and had recently moved to Texas from Pennsylvania, where I spent my first 20yrs hunting public land big woods. Texasbowhunter.com and ArcheryTalk.com were the norm for me to learn about a part of hunting that I had always wanted to do, but didn't have family nor friends to teach me.

When I moved to Missouri in 2009, I was hoping to find another close nit hunting community based around a forum. One that supports, educates, laughs and even mourns together. And for the most part MWT was exactly that. A cool community with 1-4 guys who's heads were too big for their hat sizes. But for the most part, good clean fun and community. I really felt that when I was blessed after 2 years of hard hunting and learning and was blessed with a great buck. And every time I run into MWT'ers out and about or at MWT events.

But that changed a few years back. Now this site is mostly made up of posts and comments from a pretty normal group of "bullies" for lack of a better word. A doz or two out of the thousands of registered users love to bash anyone that posts anything. Bash new folks. Bash guys who have been around since the beginning....it doesn't matter.

I used to get pissed off and felt the need to defend myself and others who were being picked on....but then I came to realize that the majority of MTW are good guys and gals, but it is a compete waste of time to post or argue with the immature few. I don't know anyone's ages, but those few act like 14yr old gamers who hide behind their computer screens and think that they know everything there is about hunting. And the truth is.....most of them don't know squat. Don't know how much blood, sweat and tears get put into hunting. Sure they hunt. And they go out on the family farm or lease to stands that have been up for years while being dropped off by a truck, ATV. But most of those bullies have no idea what a lot of hunters go through on a yearly bases to get into the woods, scout, check out new areas, hang stands every hunting trip, carry it all out every time....etc.
he
Sometimes I think we forget that we are ALL Hunters. Hunting under different circumstances, privileges, hunting budgets, ages.......etc. We need to all work together to educate those around us of how do do things right. Take a young guy under your wing. Teach them what it means to be a hunter. What it means to look out for one another. What it means to respect one another.

I know that 98% of you out there are great people. And for those of you that are bitter in life, or think you are better than everyone else. Keep your trap shut if you don't have something nice to say. If you wouldn't say it to a person face to face, don't say it. Because 99% of the crap spewed by the "bullies" would never be said to the person's face.

If you are an administrator....its on you.....manage the forum and crack down on the crap....you would be surprised what an amazing place this could be.

That would have been a really well articulated post if you would have left this part out...

Honestly, I think the reason that you get the types of responses you do is because of your above viewpoint. You pride yourself on being a God fearing Christian that doesn't look down your nose at anybody but that is truly all you ever do when you post, especially when it's about the Bunch Hollow giant you killed. Nobody cares that you are a public land hunter and feel like you work harder than everybody else because you don't have access to private land. Work harder, you can probably get access. But then again you couldn't brag about being a big bad DIY public land hunter. Making assumptions about other people's level of effort is funny.

They definitely should have let @PHhunter be a mod. Things would be better around here.

It's a shame that a the lack of attention by CMG and the increasing thin-skinnedness has lead to all of this madness.

I feel bad for Ed. I hate trespassers, so I understand his pain. I wish he would at least take my offer to buy him lunch so he could get to know me and trade hunting stories.

Totally agree.... anyone who can’t put the work in to be able blast deer off their back porch has no business critiquing anything. Keep up the fight.

Sadly there has been no moderating since the huge mailman/rat scandal that resulted in their untimely demise.

"Man we haven't had a good whining thread in awhile!" I thought to myself as logged into MWT this morning.

You're spare parts bud, calm down it's just the innerwebs.

Literally nothing said on here will affect the rest of your life.

Unless you have a heart attack reading this post.

Good post and looks like you hit a nerve with someone which makes it even better. It's funny how different some people are in person than online. I'm on here to mostly have fun and don't really take anything on here too seriously. A lot of good info can be had if you pick the brains of some of these knuckle heads. Take everything with a grain of salt obviously.

Rat said something about having a gag reflex but I hope he meant gag order.

Unfortunately there was a huge effort to sweep the whole thing under the rug so nobody knows. Lots of rumors but I ain't the type to gossip.
Only thing for sure is that they both got fired.

The end of "The Good Old Daze", can be precisely marked with the firing of those two fine admins.... :wave1:
