No idea about these guns, but I'd like to learn since it seems like 90% of the shots on my property will be well within 100 yards.

Basically I'm looking to buy a rifle and it would be great if you had the necessary extras to show me the ropes with loading, cleaning and all that.

I could meet in St Louis, Rolla or as far south as Cabool.

Pretty much any modern inline is more than adequate for very ethically taking deer. My personal favorite for a novice is the CVA Optima V2 in SS/Black. It wont break the bank at around $270. IF you are large framed and want a American made rifle you can get a Knight Vision with a bare primer plug for under $300 shipped. The Vision is a large heavy rifle but its built like a tank.

The Optima is a nice simple and easily cared for rifle. Not heavy at all either. Only thing it really needs is a new breech plug if you want to use BH209 powder. So for under $300 it covers just about all you could want from a first ML including the scope mount.

Edit: decided to go with a CVA, but haven't bought one yet. Talked to a buddy who hunts muzzleloader and recommended them as well. Thanks for the input!

Still open to buying one off someone if they have one for sale.
