If so, that's probably why this buck wasn't recovered. Saw this poor young buck laying along a hedge row next to a corn field we goose hunted tonight. It's a shame people shoot a deer and just leave it! Although, I'm betting this was shot during the antlerless season which means this rifle hunter thought it was a doe. Either way .... MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SHOOTING PEOPLE!!!!

I hope whoever shot this guy learned a lesson, but probably not!:mad2::mad2:

BTW, this was a rifle kill!!!

I find atleast a couple of these every year while shed hunting or bowhunting after rifle season. Seems that some of the shoot everything that moves guys next to one of the farms I hunt like to ground check deer, sad thing is that there is nothing that can really be done unless you find it SOON after it happens:mad2:

Not the ones that I find, and the neighbor doesn't bow hunt. We stay out of certian areas during gun season as to not push out deer in some of their favorite hiding spots during gun season. We give them places to hide from all the shooting if you will. Before and after gun season we may hunt closer to some of these areas. We never find any dead before.

[rquote=1495973&tid=104428&author=Marine95]Was northern or southern?. No antlerless in the southern part and has antler restriction.[/rquote]

Northern.... just on the other side from St. Louis county. Although, again....... this buck hasn't been dead for a week. So I'm guessing it was shot during the antlerless season.

Are you duck huntin' in Arnold Park DS????? Plenty of Canada's there! :D

That's a real shame and I came across a similar incident in Montgomery County last weekend. A 5 point was butchered and tossed in a roadside ditch. He was a 3x2 with no browtines. His backstraps were cut out, no front shoulders and the tenderloins and hind quarters were taken. Hide was only on the neck up and ankles down. It was pretty obvious it was done by humans and not predator/scavenger critters. Even though it is still wrong, at least the poachers didn't let the meat go to waste in my situation.

[rquote=1496121&tid=104428&author=buckwacker181]The way I see it is the Northern 1/4th of Jeffco isn't under antler restriction. Am I seeing it wrong???[/rquote]
You have it right. The northern 1/4 of Jefferson county isn't under the antler restriction. It is in the antlerless portion.

I've seen/found 3 dead deer already this year. One was a gigantic doe found layin in the middle of a field. Another was a good 8 pt with a 20 inch spread. The third was a small 6 point that was found 30 yards off a gravel road. The last one was definitely road killed but left to lay. Whoever shot him didn't even cut the horns off.....so he was definitely killed for no reason. I didn't see this one up close.....but my neighbor stopped and looked at it. He said it had been spine shot so it died where it fell which again.....was 30 yards off a gravel road. Makes no sense to me at all why anyone would shoot a small buck for NO reason whatsoever. The only sure thing they accomplished by doin that was ensuring that there wasn't a bigger buck out there next year. Of course....road hunters dont care bout such things

Then NO, it is not in the AR portion of the county. Nothern Jeff County & NE Franklin County was lifted this year.

I find at least two deer like that in my fields every year. My family farm has about two miles of county road frontage and it seems like people just love to drive through at night and shoot deer in the fields and leave them lay. We have been trying to work with MDC but they have the agents stretched so thin it is hard to cover the entire county.
