I would guess that if his shot placement was good------YEP!
They have killed several down this way with 12 gauges and squirel load. They have also shot several with 17 hmr rimfires. Its allabout shot placement like anything else.
My grandfather back in the 50's use a 22 short in his bolt action J.C. Higgins. One shot in the head and then stuck him in the neck with a big knife to bleed him out then hooked the singletree to his back legs and hoisted him up to drain the blood. Then the fun started. Of course this was in a squeeze shoot in a fenced lot.
i'd say more pigs ahve die from th 22 short than anything else,i still remeber the hog slaughter the family would have and butcher twenty hogs every winter and they were alot bigger than 175.fresh tenderloin and country cured ham .ooh boy
Ahhh....Memories!!

my grandpa used the ol .22 in the farrowing pin..
Two words: Shot Placement

175lbs isn't that big. I bet there are a lot of insurgents who weighed that much that wish they hadn't been shot with a .223

i wouldn't think a guy would need a 50 cal bmg for a little ole piggy
No, but it SURE would be FUN!!!
hold on I got some thing for you
speaking of fun i heard a story the other day about some farmer in austrialla they have to control there pest and predators there or the gov comes on there farm and controls them for them and sends the farmer a bill.....well some guy has i beleve it was a 300 warbird he has been shooting wild donkeys down there his shortest shot was 300 yards and the longest was a bit over 1300 yards! now tell me that wouldn't be cool.

a freaking donkey shoot
thats sweet
I just like seeing the little critters getting blown up:sniper:
hogg loads

a wild large hogg side is tough as bark from a ole hickory tree, and even tougher to skin down,so a 22 up close in the head, will put there lights out,so just wonder what a 223 will do!!
