As I explained in my post where I got my buck this year I also was a witness to someone poaching a deer. I've actually had to write a formal statement, speak with the DA, meet with the warden and take him through exactly what I witnessed and where so that he could take dozens of pics. of the location from all different angles.
While we experienced some poaching on our WI farm this year the poachers admitted to it...as opposed to this person who is denying it.
I have been extremely impressed with the amount of work and effort that the local warden has put into building this case and had no idea the amount of work that goes into this. I've also been extremely suprised with how appreciative the Warden is stating that the majority of the time he get's very little cooperation from land owners and witnesses...guess the moral of the story is that if you want to make progress stopping this kind of stuff you have to put in a little leg work...just to meet with these guys I've burned 6 hours of leave but it's been well worth it.

From the very limited amount of info that I've been privy to..It was kinda my understanding that had the guy admitted to it the warden was going to "work with him", but since he didn't they are essentially going to throw the book at him with the charges...
Just off the top of my head I know he can be charged with at least 7 different things..that should hurt the pocket book.

I took off last Friday afternoon to meet with our local agent and show them around the farm. They are going to set up and try to catch some local roadhunters that have been targeting a couple of big bucks that are running our farm. The agent was given complete access to our property and was very appreciative because he said he'd been met with "some resistance" in attempting to get permission from other area landowners. Good luck to you bowhunt.

no like actually fining him for tresspassing, shooting a deer from the road, etc. as opposed to the usual slap on the wrist $25 fine! That is all I meant, not jail time of death penalty, definitely enough to make him think twice about it next time. For me should have conficated the rifle and possibly more as well!

I just wanted to chime in here and say thanks to all the outdoorsmen/outdoorswomen who are willing to come forth and help us with our duties in catching poachers. You have no idea what it means to have that kind of support. We would not be as near as effective as we are without your help. We could still be more effective. Poaching hurts everyone, including non-hunters.
With that being said, if anyone has good information on poaching activity that does not want it posted in the general forum, please feel free to contact me either U2U or by phone (816-866-4277). This is my home phone number so call me any time if it is a violation in progress. Please keep in mind that I am the agent assigned to Clay Co. If the violation is in another county, please call me and I will put you in contact with the agent for your county.
I will also be available to answer questions you all may have about regulations. If you could please ask them in the AskMDC section. It makes it easier to find.
Thanks

The reason for "some resistance" might be that they dont want to deal with the retaliation(cut fences ,a cow shot ).
Ive heard stuff like this happens

So we should just tuck tail and run....let the scumbags threaten law abiding citizens into keeping their mouths shut? Sorry, they picked the wrong property to target and picked the wrong people to run their mouth to and brag about what they were doing. I'll fix a few fences if it comes to that. Beyond that, I will not publically comment....

Don't think I stated on here...but did on another thread....the idiot is currently on probation. I want to give our local agent some time to catch him in the act, but after that I will notify all appropriate authorities and agencies about his continued willingness to violate terms of his probation and the law. He picked the wrong people this time....
