Just kinda bored and curious. There a lot of calibers out there, and the .223 vs. 5.56 got me interested.
I know a lot of .22's will shoot shorts,longs,and long rifle-my .357 will take .38 special-some .410's will shoot .45 l.c.

Sooooo, what else is a "multi-tasker"?No real reason other than to learn.

Whatcha got for me?

I guess for the purposes of this thread, we should list the pre-requisite caliber first.

Like...

.357, 38special

NOT

38special, .357

I would also add ALWAYS check with the manufacturer to make sure what you are loading and attempting to shoot is safe for the firearm you have.

[rquote=1509620&tid=105298&author=Boogan1].44 mag will also shoot .44 russian as well as .44 special. [/rquote]

Boog, forgot about the .44 Russian. Don't see that one mentioned much anymore.

Is it the 9mm that has a "P plus" or is that the 38 special? I know some you cant fire in some guns do to chamber pressures also.

5.56 NATO - .223 Remington

The way I read that link....you shouldn't use 5.56 nato in a .223 rifle,due to pressure from a different"ledger"?...but can you use a .223 remmy in a 5.56?

Correct. the 5.56 generates more pressure than the .223. The 5.56 has a little larger chamber since the brass is a smidge thicker and more "float" or "free bore".

38 S&W is an older round. Not to be shot in 38 spl. It is the same as the British 380/2000 used in Enfield revolvers.
