i picked up a moultrie Moultrie Game Spy 4.0-Megapixel Digital Camera with IR Flash instead of the regular 4.0 digital one because it was only $40 extra and i wasnt going to because i though it was 100 extra but did it for 40
is there that much of a difference and is it worth the xtra $ to have the IR flash instead of the digital one?i wasnt going to because we have problems w tresspassers on the 360 acres we have to hunt and i didnt want to loose $200 strapped to a tree but i couldnt pass it up for $120 and the guys there also kind of persuaded me too plus mom was the one paying for it but weve had a few stands stolen in the past 5years
also what r the pros and cons between infrared and digital and is this particular cam a very reliable camera?

From my understanding they are both digital cameras. The infra red model uses infra red lighting on night photos (no flash but just a soft red glow on the cameras LED lights) and the regular D-40 uses a regular flash at night which in my opinion scares away the mature deer once the first photo is taken. You made the right choice in my opinion.

I might add that the Infra Red photos at night take on a black and white look. The D-40 uses a flash like your regular camera does in low light conditions and shows full colorization on the photos. Battery life on the Infra Red will be much longer IMO.
