Deer have to be one of the toughest mammals on the planet. Young doe my buddy took this year had her shoulder completely shattered from being hit by a car and she had no visible limp when he shot her.

There was tissue damage and broken bones in the shoulder that wasn't shot so we determined it had to be a car collision...also the healed road rash on that side was a dead giveaway.

Few years ago I shot a buck back when I lived in Arkansas and I noticed he had a limp to his walk. Just figured he got hurt fighting since it was the rut. After I pulled his britches off I noticed his right shoulder, opposite of where i shot him had a bloody spot. Looked further and there was a fixed blade broad head in the joint of his shoulder. Also seen a spot that looked infected on his left ham and found a .22 in his ham. I felt honored to take a deer that had already cheated death twice. They sure are some tough animals.
