I got a phone call a couple nights ago from one of my neighbors. He's an absentee landowner. After the general **** chat to catch up on how our seasons went, he gets around to asking me about a tree stand of mine. It's in a little pie shaped area that juts off from the main section of my farm. It's setup about 50 yds from his property line & 10 yds from the closed overgrown county rd. Bridge has been out for decades. Seems he's got a friend coming in to hunt with him during ML season & his plan was to put up a stand in that general area. He called to see if we were planning to hunt that stand this weekend & if we were, he wouldn't put up a stand in that area.

That stand is across the creek & to get to it easily, I have to treck around to his side of my property & come in down the old county road. It's about a 6 mile drive by road just to get there, so we don't hunt it real often & we had no intention of hunting it this weekend. So, I told him that if he or his buddy wanted to, just crawl up in that stand rather than dragging another one into the area.

I feel very fortunate to have such a considerate, unselfish neighbor.:2thumbsup:

I'm grateful that I've got a neighbor like that, too.

He could very easily shoot deer on me...he lives on my West property line, overlooking a field of mine, that's very active with deer.

Instead, he gives me a deer report every time he see's 'em...telling me to get on 'em!

AND that's just one good thing about him. He's always willing to lend a hand, when I'm needing assistance.

We also hunt together occasionally, so we've become more than just neighbors...we're hunting partners.

Great stories about good neighbors. I have bad neighbors on 2 sides and they've made it clear not to cross the line but I've caught them on my side.

It's a lot more fun to do it that way then to be enemies isn't it.

I have less-than-desirable neighbors, too...and my neighbor / hunting partner helps me keep an eye on them too... :D

It is great to have good neighbors.
I have a small property that I have permision to hunt. A lady I have know for years ownes it. She does not allow anyone else to hunt it. It is located in an area with very good deer numbers. The land is just 38 acres. The timber was cut about three years ago and a few trees were left. The land owners around have stoped me several times and gave me a hard time about hunting it. I have never crossed the property line. I normally just early bow hunt it.
I decide to hunt it the last two days of our ML season because I had photos of a relly nice buck. I noticed that there were four different people with stands on their property line and hunting the land.
I was up a tree in the middle. When the sun came up and I could see them I just got down and left.

sorry to say i picked up 63 acres to hunt in the city and two neighbors on the dead end road are all up in arms over it. they say they are the only ones that live on the road and they don't want us driving on it or parking on the shoulder even though the opposite side of the road to them is the property we are hunting with permission from the landowner. it's a real pain. glad to hear there are more reasonable people out there.

i won't go into the hassles and threats we have received.
