Fishing lake of the Ozarks tonight around 19 MM and this happened. Never would've believed it. It had earlier been on the dock roof and tried to steal one of our crappie as we reeled it in.

Sorry if video isn't working. A barred owl landed on our boat and then nearly took out my fishing partner trying to steal a crappie he caught. About yanked his rod out of his hand.

You're lucky he didn't get hooked and you had to deal with reeling him in with claws flashing and wings flapping.

Had a Musky try to get my Crappie on Pomme de Terre Lake.

I know not unusable but get a persons heart going.

That's just crazy. Hopefully just a one time occurence. I expect that could get old if that owl got conditioned to doing that.

I watched a loon chase a spinner bait I was reeling in, in Minnesota. I am glad I didn't hook em, I could see him kick out a foot and turn away about 15ft away - clear water up there-but I don't have video of it. Nice.

Dang cool!!! I agree though, if that owl gets conditioned to becoming that bold he'll become a big nuisance pretty quick.

    That's pretty cool!
If you didn't know he was there and he came out of nowhere, that would get your heart rate up a notch or two!

As many barred Owls that have helped me kill Turkeys I would have gave him that fish !

When I said I was going to film it in the video in response to my buddy saying he had a fish...I meant I was going to film us giving it to him. It just wasn't patient enough!

It's pretty unnerving to have one of them sitting 14' away staring at you. He'd been there a minute or so before I took the video. Before that he was on a dock roof and had made a failing attempt at a fish we were reeling in.

I had a Goose grab my bait one time when I was Bank fishing he got hooked under his beak, talk about a handful, if another fisherman hadn't stepped in and grabbed the goose I would still be trying to grab that thing.
