:mad2:What is wrong with people that they have to be lazy, worthless POS that can't seem to kill a deer without a road, a vehicle or a spotlight. :rules:

I received the name of an individual last night that is not only road hunting in our area, but specifically targeting our property. He somehow knows what I shot this year and said there is at least 2 bucks on our property that are as big or bigger.

I'm on a mission.....waiting to be contacted by MDC and working on a couple of other ideas. :soapbox:

This is the mentality of some of these low-lifes. These comments were taken off the Jeff City News Tribune story about poachers:

" I wonder how many of these arrests were "baited"? The MDC boasts of their entrapment efforts by showing clips of their so-called 'stakeouts' where THEY bait a field with a decoy deer, then wait for someone to bite the bait. They say in their own code that use of decoys is illegal. Do they have a license for that decoy? Who gave it to them? On what authority? On their own selp-appointed authority? Ha!

There is only One Lawgiver, and it aint the MDC. But yet they set themselves up as gods and make laws that they themselves break. "

" It's called entrapment, which is illegal and unlawful. In most cases, the people prosecuted HAVE licenses, they are WEARING hunter orange, and they are out HUNTING deer...following the "rules". The MDC puts these decoys in rural areas where deer hunters are hunting deer! Then bust them for doing something they were not pre-disposed to do...which is take deer illegally. It's the same thing as if I told my child not to eat the cookies, then I put a plate of cookies in front of them and walked away, and then spied my child eating the cookies...and then punished them. The child was not pre-disposed to go eat the cookies, but I acted in a way that equals entrapment. "

[rquote=1513717&tid=105571&author=atdalake]From what I've heard, he is not spotlighting, yet. He has, however, sat IN THE DRIVEWAY at times.

Several years ago there was a police chief of a tiny little town near Bagnell Dam that was coming back from a bar out on Highway 42. Driving home from the bar he spies a deer off the road. So he stops his truck, leans over the hood and shoots it. The problem was, it was an MDC decoy that he shot.....well that and it was actually in the STATE PARK!! Obviously, dude is no longer chief of police! :rof2:

Seems like he ended up with a variety of charges...DWI, shooting from a roadway, hunting in state park and maybe a couple of others. While he did lose his job, I do not believe they attempted to confiscate his guns or vehicle or any of that and I think they cut him a break on the charges when it was all pled out.

The comments posted earlier are great! "Illegal and Unlawful"... Uh.... same thing, right? Plus, the people saying that MDC setting out the robotic decoys is illegal... C'mon... That's more black and white than cops leaving bait cars for thieves to steal.

We had this problem years ago, the area I live in was one of the top spotlighting areas around here. 6 of us neighbors contacted the local agent and told him we were going to patrol the area and asked what we could do, he told us all we could do was get a vechile description and plate number if possible, then call him. We would patrol in pairs and usually 2-4 nights a week, we only got 1 vechile called in but the word soon got out about our little watch thing and the spotlighters moved off somewhere else or quit.

I don't think it was the police chief, I do know a police officer was caught like you said, in the park shooting a dummy deer many years ago, and yep he was fired over it.

Good luck,

Talked to the agent for our area last night. He said the individual I told him about was just the tip of the iceberg and he's been trying to get permission to set up on land to catch some of them, but hasn't had much luck finding willing landowners. I told him he was welcome to sit on our land any time he wished. Am going to meet with him this afternoon and give him a tour of the farm. Maybe this will be the beginning of the end...at least for awhile.

I also found out that the POS that has been targeting our farm is currently on probation for manufacturing meth and a couple of other charges. So hopefully a poaching charge will cause him to serve some of the time he SHOULD be serving now instead of being on probation and road hunting!

Just curious, what part of the lake do you live at, I'm close to Osage Beach. Sometimes if your neighbors know where your trying to get something stopped they can help keep a watch out, several neighbors keeping watch equals greater success.

Good luck

keep your hopes up I tried catching a guy on my property this year and never did last week the agent called and said he had caught them before I did. All it takes is a tip and they are all over it.

I agree roadhunting is stupid, selfish and way out of line to the rules of deer season. Drives ya nuts to think about how people have killed a deer around your property and never gotten caught....one bad egg always ruins it for the rest of us.
