I don't like talking to alligators, most of them are a$$holes. You should have shared your findings after living amongst them...:D

Held captive....in a small shallow pond....temps drop....pond freezes over....gator hugs the bottom for any warmth but needs to breathe....keeps nose above water (ice) line to stay alive....forced survival in my opinion. I'm sure they'd rather be sent to southern Florida for the winter....but they are captive...duh!

Ok when we lived in Louisiana it got so cold they was really worried about the Alligators. The Citrus Trees didn't fair well.

Neighbor got mad at me dumping fish cleaning in the creek and Gators coming up there eating.

We had to run Clothes Dryer in the morning to warm the Trailer up. Could only get 80 Gallons of Propane at a time.

Been thinking moving back down there.

:D Would that make the Big Grin a Coon A?

Alexandria is far enough north of NOLA, but it has its areas.
Slidell is trying to stay a decent city, not quiet like it use to be..

My youngest daughter recently moved out of the qtr, its getting really bad, even during the middle of the day..

I am in South Carolina as I write this. Had 6-8 inches of snow and ice here that finally melted off today but they had single digit temps. The locals were telling me about this very subject today when I asked how their gators would fare with the freezing temps.

It would be a great time to remove nuisance alligators. I will check the pond at the farm.
