So I loaded her up Saturday morn before heading to the stand and thought that I pushed in the bullet a tad bit further than usual. Got in my treestand and put a primer in it, or so I thought. When I got ready to leave I opened the gun to remove the primer and there wasn't one. Good thing I didn't see ole droptine. After I got down I tried to put in another primer but it wouldn't go shut. So I said to myself I must not have put the breech plug in far enough. :whinging:

My question is, can I just keep turning in the breech plug until it closes and I can shoot it and start over? I presume I'll break the pellets when doing this so I plan on shooting it tomorrow before I leave for my stand. Any thoughts?

My next question is, how do I know if my breech plug is screwed in enough before loading?

[rquote=1517182&tid=105787&author=Bronco Brian]remove the primer, remove the breech plug and push it all out the back with the ramrod and clean the gun grease the plug and start over
[/rquote] i agree, if you don't know what you have, get it apart, knock the powder out push the slug out, make sure the breech plug is seated firmly, it should mechanically stop, reload and go get droptine

I was afraid you'd say that, I was thinking I could just force the plug in further until I could get the primer on and latched and shoot the thing, then start over. Will the powerbelt come out thru the breech hole?

Yep, next time screw that breech plug in until it just stops (out of threads). Don't torque it though. Push the old load out, give it a quick cleaning, make sure the bore is completely oil free and dry, grease or tape the plug, then install the plug fully and reload when you are ready to get out there again.
