I don’t know who needs to hear this...

But wear your DAMN harness.

I climbed into the stand a lil after four today. Got strapped in and waited. A little before 7 had a beautiful 3yo 8 point come into the plot. He fed to 35 yards and I just watched him for prolly 30 minutes.

He had just left the plot and I was wondering if a bigger buck would make its way through when I heard a pop.

Next thing you know I'm looking down and falling. Life flashed before my eyes, I saw my son...my wife... my family... my friends. Then I caught. My Muddy harness had me dangling there. I swung over to the ladder, lowered my bow, lowered my bag, and walked back to the truck.

A little shook up, a lot pissed off at myself, and 100% blessed that God gave me the smarts to know not to climb without a harness anymore.

Thank you Muddy for making a great product.

Glad to hear you’re ok. What broke that caused the fall?

Holy smokes, glad you are okay! I believe standard protocol now is to still go to the doctor or ER for internal leg damage/bleeding?????

That would probably be me. My brother just got done chewing on me last week and said he is sending me a harness. I let lack of money keep me from buying a harness. I know.....dumb...thanks for the reminder.
Oh....and glad your are ok.

I never leave the ground without being hooked up. Glad you are ok! What caused the fall?
Strap came free from what I could see. Not 100% positive but I’m taking the blame for it.

I bought this on swap shop for $50 two weeks ago. It's way cheaper then a hospital visit.

No 20 I'm not going to the hospital. It didn't hurt anything but my pride.
Sure glad to see you started making better decisions than you did the night you got the nickname jawbone.

Also, you may need a new fall strap for the harness

So glad you were able to walk away Jawesome... dayumnn... Did the strap break or did you maybe not have the ratchet mechanism locked down?? Not trying to judge or beat ya up.. just gathering info.. I had a ratchet strap actually pull apart on me while I was stepping over onto the base of the stand during an evening hunt. I always used 2 separate ratchet straps so I had a “safety”. After that incident I chain and boom all of my lock-on’s and ladder stands. I also date/mark all my ratchet straps so I can retire them at least every 3rd year regardless of conditions of the strap on inspection after season is over..

As Bob stated... I’d keep an eye out for any latent injuries. That had to of jerked the snot outta ya... Stay Safe Brotha!
I had bottom fall out of a climber before and that made me crap myself enough to where I have wore a harness ever since.Glad you made it out ok,gotta be scary
Glad you’re ok.

I’ve never felt super comfortable in tree stands so I only use ladder stands, and I always have two ratchet straps. One is new, and one is a year old. No strap gets used for over two years.

And of course, always harnessed.

This is why I aways use a lifeline and prussik from the ground to the stand and back down. You can buy all the stuff you need to make lifelines for all your stands for less than the price of another stand. Heck, I have them on my ladder stands.

Strong Point! Life Safety rope-Line is normally retired after its been loaded/used in the field on a life safety scenario

Thank goodness you were wearing it. Since you fell with it replace it. Don't trust it for a second fall.

I plan to check my harness tomorrow for rips and tears.

I can’t really say what exactly happened with the strap.

It’ll have a 3rd strap on it soon though.

Gotta go back out there and find my damn Oakleys that were on my head.

I wont even us those stands. I buy cheap climbers and leave them in the tree. Much safer.
Lifelines.Just do it.

The harness should have tell tale indicators on it for being impacted. Usually stitching on over lapped webbing. Regardless, I think I’d replace it.

Super glad you had one on and used it properly.
