You know hunting at the petting zoo is pushing the limits of fair chase

Had an emu do that once, felt a little undergunned, thankfully it didn't have a beard. :rules:
Seems like a lot more people used to have them. Never actually called one in but quite often I saw them strutting with hens and gobblers. Once even saw a knock down drag out pea fowl on gobbler battle.

That would have been something to see, it does seem like they were more common 20 years ago.
I called one in also 20 years ago. Following a hen, full strut.
I thought I was the only one, and you got video. Awesome.
We had one in a flock of turkeys years ago. If you spooked them the pea**** would run the opposite direction as the turkey's. They can sure wake you up when they do their calling
Had one show up at the farm several years ago. It was late spring . Went to the bottom to see if the beans were up and it was walking across the bean field. Didn't call it in though. How much did that one weigh ? :D
Didnt get a chance to weigh him. He was definitely coming to the call. He came in fast, stopped where he thought the hen should be, and then found an even higher gear getting po ut of there. After my brother killed his bird, I called one of my farmers who wanted me to take his 10 year old grandson out. We met at his house and my brother and I took the kid. We had just had a hen answer my call and my brother spotted him coming up through the woods and he said "Here he comes and he's coming fast" i was getting the kid ready for the shot when my bro goes "What the?'
We have encountered coyotes, Bobcats, badgers, sasquatches, hawks, and more coming through our setup.. but that was the first pea****.

that's bizarre, there are some on properties within a mile or so as the crow flies, never have called on in, not sure how they taste in hot oil

Watch out, those things are vicious. I about got attacked by one on a search warrant one day. Luckily for me one of my coworkers was kind enough to hide in his truck and video the whole thing.

I was out in the woods a couple of years ago and parked at least a mile from any farm houses. When I returned there was a pea**** standing on top of my truck. Unfortunately I did not have a camera at that time and have not seen any since.

There used to be a lot more of them before people stopped trapping and nest predators got out of control.

Nice video. :D

If you get tired of stepping in pea**** poo in the woods , just call hooks pea**** extermination service.
