The boys and I had a standing invite to hunt up at a hunt club after we helped them during a preseason cleanup and blind brushing day. A deal I wasn't too sure of at first as it was set up by my wife who works with the wife of the hunt club owners son. Definately was well worth it.
Was hopeing for limits of green but the mallets didn't want to play as well as every other duck did yesterday, although some green did fall out of the sky yesterday. Good mixed bag day it was as we ended up the 4 limits which included mallets, hollywoods, GWT, gaddy's, pinnies. Had a flock of Redheads and Scaup give us a fly by but couldn't get the guns up quick enough to get shots off. Also would of had a good shot at some Canada's if we we wouldn't of all been standing outside the blind picking up and if I wouldn't of used up all the shells :blah::blah::blah:
Our host and I never fired a shot till after the boys had gotten their limits, which didn't take long, Soda Pop Kidd got his in 30 min's and Jr. Woodchchuck took about an hour and a half.
The boy's shot well, SodaPop Kidd took 8 shots to drop his 6 birds (2 greenheads, 2 drake GWT, 1 hen mallet, and a hen hollywood). Jr. Woodchchuck didn't shoot as well, 18 shots for 6 birds (2 gwt, hen and a drake, 1 drake hollywood, hen pintail, and a drake shoveler). My shooting on the other hand did the SWMBWS proud as several birds were watched flying away after the shooting was done. Ended up shooting every 12 ga shell available in the blind and used up the last 2 20ga shells JrW. had in his gun to get my limit :stickfight:, Just kept telling the boys I do it to make them look good
