Punched my CO A list tag after cashing in my points in a limited unit. Scouting paid off and I found myself between a herd bull and a satellite bull on opening morning. I never got a good look at the herd bulls rack, but couldn't pass this guy.

Plant Trophy hunting Hunting Tree Brown bear
After taking care of the meat and letting my body recover, it was back to Idaho. Two years in a row of packing out bulls on solo DIY OTC hunts. I'm not too proud to take the satellite bull when the herd bull wouldn't cooperate.

Up next...CO Rifle Antelope, CO Rifle Cow Elk, IL Whitetail, and CO 4th Season Rifle Muley Rut Hunt. You couldn’t pay me to move back to Southern Illinois.

Yes, she has both bull and cow tags for first rifle and a 3rd season muley tag. Her social and select soccer schedules interfere with the seasons, but I'll try to put her on some animals.

You sure that was the satellite bull?! That's a stud! How many points did you burn for that tag?

Cow rifle tag? Sounds like you may have a touch of a blood lust!
Heck of a satellite bull. Many guys go a long time before shooting one like that.

Easy to say now...I love elk meat much more than deer. Getting tags is a game that I plan months in advance and I didn't think I'd fill both bull tags. Regardless, whatever elk meat goes into my freezer won't go to waste. If I kill a whitetail in Illinois, I may donate it. It isn't the same quality of meat. Judge me if you wish.

I burned 10 points, but it took 9 as a resident of Colorado. I think it took 19 or 20 for the tag as a NR.

Idaho makes it easy as a backup since they offer OTC. Killed my first archery bull there last year. Again, I plan to chase these bulls months in advance and tags aren't OTC like in the midwest, so I try for the most opportunity in the surrounding states.
