The Mississippi river looks friendly but is an evil witch. I swamped there in 95 on a white knuckle ride. I was too old to get caught up in that deal. Much bigger boat now and much more selective.

Ran the MO a good bit myself, you better pay attention on the river, it doesn't forgive mistakes.

  3. When I went back to hunting the Mississipppi,I bought a 2072 SeaArk.I had a many white knuckle rides in a 1648 back in my younger years.

Not gonna lie, the rivers (MO and MS) intimidate me.

Heard some cackling geese flying overhead last night about 10pm (specks?), just about on time according to my calendar notes of previous years.

Pops just called and said he was checking pumps and drove by BK Leach area, etc and said there were 'ducks out the yingyang' in all of the flooded areas. Wish we could get on 'em sooner!

20171011_095520.jpg Rebel and I did our first goose hunt on our own this morning. If I could shoot, we would have been done by 9 AM, but as it was, it took me a little longer.

It was a good day for it, seen lots flying, I tired to jump a few at my usual spot (first I'd seen on the lake since Sept 1) and they were a little too far.

Maybe bent them some, no calling needed, just let the well placed decoys work...I never call a goose looking at me.
