Golden Rain Tree??

787 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Mailman
Found this by one of our creeks and was struggling to ID it. Per the MDC page on invasives, it looks like it may be the Golden Rain Tree. Any opinions? Does it need elimination?

Definitely NOT goldenrain.
Looks like bladdernut (Staphylea trifolia).
A pretty little native of undisturbed woods.

Thank you! It did appear to be more of a shrub than a tree. It has been interesting exploring these woods as there are a lot of trees and shrubs I have not found on our other property. Trying to educate myself as best as possible.

If we are talking about the landscaping golden rain tree that certainly isn't it

Sounds like Urban Hunter knew it, the part about undisturbed woods is interesting.
That "undisturbed woods" thing...
I sure can't find that in the literature. But the only time I've found it has been undisturbed woods... as in white oak group predominating, with no evidence of logging or cultivation.
So take that with a grain of salt.

My salt intake has been limited from orders from my doctor.

But seriously...There are quite a few trees/shrubs on my place that I have no idea as to what they are. I should have an arboriculturist follow me around to tell me what is what.
