Going North.

Last year I posted a long running thread about a camping/hunting trip I did out of my canoe on public lands. There were lots of photos of my adventures as well as a few fun stories regarding the strategies I used and the manner in which I accessed the areas I hunted.

This year I'm taking a 9 day trip up North, near the Iowa border. I'll be with a buddy, who is a Navy vet. We're gonna be hunting around 10,000 acres of public lands that are surrounded by big ag and filled with pinch points. It should be a good trip and in true trailblazer fashion, I'll be using a kayak to access. My meat hauling pack should get used. I'll be hunting primarily out of a saddle, sleeping on an old army cot and eating camp food. This trip will be double the time that last year's trip was. 100% bow hunting, 100% public lands. I'll post photos and a day to day tally of animals seen, strategies used and access through the hunt. Feel free to post your tips and tricks and in the words of the great Samuel L. Jackson, "Hold on to ya butts."

My idea of "Roughing It" was when the Hotel ran out of cream rinse and bagels on the same morning!

Sounds tough. I'm feeling like we're laying down some because the campsite we chose has an in ground crapper.
Good luck hope it’s wonderful!

You need an OnX subscription my man. I can show you a spot that is over 20K contiguous acres. The particular area we're going is around 6,000 acres surrounded by several smaller parcels within reasonable driving distance that all add up to 10K. Not one big piece.

Thank ya sir! I'm still trying to figure out how to post the article I wrote from last year's canoe hunt. A lot of folks really enjoyed that thread and I wrote it out but never could get one of the admins to respond to me regarding how the heck top post it.
I look forward to following along. Sounds like fun!
