Got my first chance for a shot with a shotgun this morning at 6:15 am in St. Genevive, mo. I heard three or four gobbling along this strip of woods that separates a hilltop pasture and a bean field at the bottom; decided to get right in the middle of all of them and just start calling. I lettem know I was there when they were still on the roost, and heard multiple gobbles at every cluck and purr I made. But once they flew down it sounded like they were all moving off in opposite directions...I let out a few loud cutts followed by a yelp and all of a sudden GOBBBBBLLLLeeee from a direction that I hadn't heard any gobbling before(right behind me!). I knew this bird was very close, and didnt have time to repositoin tothe other side of the tree, but luckily my jake and hen decoy were about 30 yards in front of me, and to make a long story short, after about 10min of strutting around and giving the jake decoy a dirty eye, macdaddy decided to go show his dominance but met two ounces of # 4's!! This is my first turkey and I couldn't be more proud!!

He weighed 25lbs, had an 11.5 inch beard, 1.5 inch spurs...got him with my Mossy 835 with 3.5 #4's
