Well things were starting to get serious around here as I had not seen much in the way of shootable deer. Just looking for a nice sized doe but nothing but some forkys and some that I couldn't I.D. I went out yesterday morning and was sitting in the stand messing with my phone and I look up and here comes a doe down the logging road. Got my scope on here just about the time she moved into some thicker brush. Then a few minutes later while I'm still watching her I here something off to my right and here comes a small forky and he's slowly making his way towards the doe. I'm looking back towards the doe and notice another deer further up the road from which she came. Well needless to say the forky pushed the doe back up the road along with the other deer. They are walking down an access trail that I cleared while I was clearing some shooting lanes and she finally makes it into the lane and gives me a clear shot. I took a steady aim with the Ruger No.1 and sent a 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip on its way. Dropped her in her tracks at 92 yards. Made my way up there and sure enough, the .243 slug placed just behind the ear did the trick.

Yep she was still a little milky. I'm just glad it was a doe I shot and not the forky 'cause when they ran off, the two deer that I had I.D. as does stood over the deer deer for prolly 4 minutes or so. I'm thinking crap, how did I shoot the forky, but in fact this was the momma doe that I hadn't seen untill the moment she stepped into the lane.
