That was my first thought, too. If it's got the J-lock, it will likely have problems, somewhere along the line. I've seen them rotate "on" when my buddy was shooting, tying up the firing pin. I've also seen it go the other way (on the same #*($&$&% rifle) and go off when he took off the safety. The best long-term bet, if it has the horrid J-lock, is to replace that with an older-style assembly, from Darrell Holland or some other seller. You can get them from Midway, or Brownells.
If there's NO J-lock, it could just be gunked up trigger guts, and a gunked up bolt. Take it to a smith and have them take those items apart for a good cleaning and bath in lighter fluid.
I say take it to a smith because you don't want to buy the specialized tools for bolt disassembly, Remington bolts are a pain to take apart, and worse to put back together.:cool3: Come to think of it, take it to the smith for him to install a Holland bolt assembly, too, same deal.
