MDC agents.

Seriously, I'm not sure it's a job I'd want. On any given night, they very well could put themselves into a situation that puts them in harms way. When they're called out in the middle of the night for shots fired, or spotlighting or something similar, they very well could be going up against armed criminals.

In their travels into some of the backwoods areas, they very well could find themselves in the middle of a meth deal, with armed criminals.

Backup is not just a few blocks away. They're going to have to rely on their good sense & training to get themselves out of the situation if it goes bad on them.

Over the years on this site & others, I've read way too many posts & threads bashing our agents. Bout time we started one showing them we appreciate them being out there.

I've had the pleasure of getting to know a few of them in the past few years. Sure learned a lot in some of the conversations. I for one, really feel we're blessed to have the conservation dept we've got.:2thumbsup:

I had the pleasure of talking to an agent on opening day of the rifle season. He stopped by my place and checked my deer that was hanging in my front yard. Checked out Son of Mailmans out of state tags and we continued our conversation for another 45 minutes and MWT was brought up. He asked what I went by on here and he knew of me and his professional agent voice became an old friend voice. Turns out we know a lot of the same people on MWT and in the MDC family. We exchanged cell numbers and I now have one more friend in the MDC family.

You are right Pinwheel about them being out there in harms way. Don't know if I could approach a deer camp where I know that there are weapons there. Anything could happen.

The agent told me a story about one of our members that I was sworn to secrecy of keeping it quiet. Something about a Ninja Santa Photo...??

I have also known a few Conservation agents personally and have met many more. You are right about the situations they must put themselves in while doing their job. Just like any law enforcement officer, they are often looked at as the "bad guy" when we all know they are the good guys.

I meet the CO for Clark Co. this year. He is a super nice guy. He gave me his card and told me to call him if I had any problems while up hunting. He also told me he would keep an eye on my farm when he's in the area.

One of my grandfathers was an Game Warden-Conservation Agent in Vermont for a looong time.
He never said much about what happened on the job. I do know one of his peers was bludgeoned to death with his own mag lite when he approached a couple of guys with a deer in a field in the dark.
I for one will say hats off to Agents in all states for what they do.

I think, as a human being ,you have to keep in perspective that is their job they are doing when they check on things. I tell you this I would not want to roll up in a deer camp at 10:00 PM with an illegal deer hanging and you are the only one who th inks it is illegal.
