If you have been wanting to do some habitat work on your farm but are waiting for a cost share opportunity, get to your county NRCS office prior to November 19th and sign up for the environmental quality incentive program (EQIP) or wildlife habitat incentive program (WHIP). NRCS staff are incredibly busy right now so call before you go, otherwise there may not be anybody around to get you the paperwork to sign up. Cost share dollars are available for a wide variety of projects like killing fescue, timber stand improvement, establishing warm season grass, etc.
