I already have more fan mounts than the wife appreciates so I would like to just remove the tail and wing feathers to keep for future projects. Anyone got an easy method of removing them? I got lucky one year and after the tail and wings started to break down in a few days, the feathers just pulled right out real easy, then I just stuck them in some borax to clean and dry the ends but I must have just time it right because this years just are not loosening up. Someone mentioned white gas in another thread. Will that loosen them up or would I just be better off dipping the fleshy part into boiling water? Any ideas or tried and trued methods?

I'd probably just clip them BP......If you try to boil them to get them a little loose, you may ruin the feathers in the process. Once they're wet, they're hard to get back to perfect, dry condition. They probably wouldn't look too great.

But I don't know this to be a fact either.
