Gasconade river? Some huge goggle eye.
yea, on the gascondy and yea you wont see google eyes much bigger than a few of them in there.
How far up river. Surprised wasn't too muddy still.
Was caught right before the rise. And it wasnt way up river but wasnt way down river either.
One little secret I will share, all was caught in the dark early morning. As soon as daylight hit it is over. Except for pesky smallmouth, cant keep them off seems like.
Nice! I never have actually targeted goggleye on the rivers. Crappie are too easy for me to go catch during the winter and spring so I always just go after them. One of my goals this winter was to try and find some of those river slabs as I had caught a couple accidentally while bass fishing last fall. The rivers were so low that I never did mess with it though. Tearing up my boat last summer still has me a bit skittish.
Haha ya it was low and you really gotta know where to run. Lots of big crappie on the river but its usually either feast or famine as they are usually stacked up. The goggle-eye can be a lot different from day to day and time of year. I'd rather have the river crappie over lake crappie any day I wont hardly eat a fish out of LOZ, but thats just me.
Some nice river fish there!
Some are paranoid about cabin septic, fuel/oil contamination, etc.
I get it, but you're gasconade river fish get a big plenty of farm, fertilizer, and even CAFO runoff. Aside from spring-fed, and mountian streams contamination is everywhere.
Sadly your are right and I know its the same, I'm not afraid to say it's just mental on my behalf.
I get it, LOZ isn't for everyone. It isn't natural to have that much activity on and around the lake. But remember that Truman and Mark Twain get their beaches shut down just as often as LOZ for ecoil, and there isn't a house anywhere on those lakes. Mostly goose shat is to blame for that.
I've put lead in my mouth countless times while fishing. A little bit of Ecoli in my fried crappie is still extra flavoring and helps bowel movements.
I'm not sure how much traveling I will be doing to crappie fish from now on. I've got a spot close to home that is full of 9.5-10.5" black crappie now. I've beat on them pretty good this past weekend in the evenings when they move up shallow.
goggleye are good eating
Too late, I'm jelly
The very best IMO
Not a bad day!
...................so.......when is the MWT Fish Fry?
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm frying up some fresh crappie tomorrow for myself and the in laws. They are gonna be GOOD! Ringer is gonna be eating good too at some point.
