If you use a rage, all the blood has left the deer before you even recover it. :wave1:

I’ve heard Armstrong once say

This comes from butchering hogs. Cut to bleed while the heart is still beating. No heart beat throat cut is useless. Plus you just mess up the cape . Just do a neat clean dress job & hang . Preferably in a walk in cooler. I knew a family that would hang them in weather like today for 2-3 days just black pepper the hell out of them to keep the flys off. They grew up without electricity. I was always afraid not to cool them asap .

I always try to shoot em in that white patch on their neck, saves having to cut the throat.
