I know of several deer being found dead in fields in Howard County. A neighbor says he had a conversation with a local vet who said there is a blue tounge - like disease going around.

I also heard of a land owner who has had to lower lease rates due to lower number of deer because of several dying.

I only looked back a few days on this site, but have found no other mentions.

Has this already been addressed? Does anyone have any confirming (or contrary) information.

    Thanks

It is called EHD and has been addressed somewhat. The cold temps should kill the insect that causes it.

Our numbers are down in Jackson County, but I don't think it's disease, unless lead-poisoning counts as a disease.
I've not heard about any blue-tongue or EHD (I gather both are similar) around here, though.

We have a farm 5 miles from Davisdale Conservation area and I was wondering if anyone has seen any evidence of EHD around that area? My neighbors and I have cameras out and not seen any evidence.

I just moved to Howard County and heard form my new neighbor that blue tongue/ehd was pretty bad this year. Then when I went out walking some of my neighbors property I found a dead 9 pointer.

Had a pretty serious outbreak of in in my area in 2007/2008 and our deer numbers went WAY down. Seem to be rebounding now...
