Wow, that's bad. Truman always had good turkey population. I spent a week at Table Rock bass fishing mid April and never heard a gobble.I did. And I left an extensive comment about my observed plummet of turkey population on public lands around Truman lake. I've been hunting that area for 25 years and have seen turkey populations go up and down a little as is expected, but over the last 6 or so years or so the population on the south end of the lake is down 80 to 90% in my opinion. I used to have multiple spots I could go to and hear at least a couple of gobblers, if not see multiple gobblers and would observe lots of hens and jakes. Those spots are almost devoid of turkeys now. Last year I hunted multiple spots on multiple days all around the lake, including some on the north, and I never heard a single gobble. I saw a total of one hen and one jake. Keep in mind that I also hunt deer during archery and firearms, plus waterfowl hunting, so I spend a fair amount of time up there.
