Deer blind ?

I think for the money I would get some lazy man stands if I was on a budget and build platforms out of wood.If that is anything like assembling the quad pod we purchased a few years back it was a pain in the ace to put together for the amount of time it actually was useable.Thing fell apart after about 4 seasons.Another option is build platforms out of wood and put ground blinds on top of them. That way at end of year you can take groundblind off of the top and hopefully help with longevity of the ground blind. Also could build Skelton out of wood on top of s platform and then just use cheap burlap to wrap it and cut you some windows out of it.Just some suggestions good luck with whatever you decide
I was debating the wood route but for the price of building a platform and blind would cost about the same as this. I don't really have the time to build blinds this year so I wanted to purchase something. I was also looking at these stands and putting a wood blind on top in the future. I hate regular ground blinds and probably wouldn't like this much either but thought about trying it for a few hundred dollars. I Have a ******* and hate how loud it is. I would buy another if I liked it. These are the other platforms I am looking at to build on they seem more mobile than a wood platform or I may mount to a trailer. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/pro...39-hunting-tower-6039x6039-platform?a=1940659
The problem with this one is the 350$ shipping.

This one is only 48"x48" but I can extend that easily. It won't even fit a ground blind as it is
The issue we had with our similar quad pod setup was the metal that you have to put together is cheap and flimsy.Lot of the cross supports had rotted in a short time and currently I wouldn't even climb up in the thing the way the wind blows during those cold November days.It also has an absolute overwhelming amount of bolts and nuts and pieces to assemble.I found it took longer than just building it out of wood with screws.I can zip together a platform in no time out of wood. This thing took us a long time reading directions, making sure we had the right hardware for the piece we was on,making sure we didn't forget anything. Was a pain in the A for how long it lasted in the elements.Maybe that platform is better made not sure and yeah that shipping cost is cringe worthy. If you lived closer to down here these would be the ticket. We have 7 of these on our MS land, they are awesome and super sturdy and so easy to setup with the elevator brackets built into the stands.

Which one do you have and any idea on price? I am thinking about just regular windows and a crossbow for those really cold days. @antlercrazed

We bought them all at one time and the guy at the dealer we got them from in Jackson,MS gave us a really good deal

We have 4) 7' hexagons and 3) of the 4x6 shooting houses

I think we got the 4x6 ones for $1200 and they are stout and the 7' hexagon We paid like $1700. But we bought them all at one time and got them from a dealer of these just north of Jackson.Everyone in our group loves them,I think they are the best stand for the money, all fiberglass so they aren't going to rot.We dropped one off the forks of the tractor from like 6' in the air and it didn't put a dent in it.Some other members have shadow hunters and those are very nice too.Having hunted out of those 2 I don't see how anyone could spend another $2000 on a ******* or Muddy. We have Lazyman stands in Missouri just because there is a dealer near us my uncle knows and they can be setup without having to pull a tractor 14 hours to set stands. Not sure what shipping would be if you ordered stands like we got straight from Dixie Deer Blinds But I imagine it be pretty high beings they are fairly heavy stands and well built

Be careful with sportsman’s guide. A lot of their stuff is junk.

I think @DPx2 can weigh in on metal blind platforms.
You're good at construction and have machinery. I bet you could build wood faster than assembling metal and for cheaper and way better in longevity and safety.

10' high with cheap Chinese metal and hundreds of fasteners would worry me.

^^^ What CRE10 said...

I put together the metal 10' platforms last year. Took about 4-6 hours each by yourself. Mine have 55"x55" platforms, and cost $316 incl tax from Menards (on year-end Clearance). They seem sturdy enough, putting blinds on them in a couple weeks.
Can't report on longevity, or hunting out of them yet...
I've got two different quad pods. One is the Muddy two man and the other is the XStand Kingpin. My biggest issue was noise. The metal parts eventually start squeaking no matter how much plastic they try to use to silence them. I ended up with a ******* and a Banks blind and haven't looked back.

If you are interested I'll sell the Kingpin blind. It's in great shape and the cover has been stored indoors. Only used one season

Possibly. What would you want for it and where are you located?
Hey Ben I don't know how big you are wanting, but this is an $800 setup. And it took no time to get it going. Billy Bridges builds em and if you need somebody to weld you up platforms I got a company. With a tractor and forks we had it set in no time.

I thought about one of those. I have some quotes on metal if I go that route. I can weld up my own my BIL is a fabricator and has all the cool tools in my moms shed. He just bought a new bandsaw I have not been able to try out yet. This may be the project. My problem right now is he time.
What’s causing the noise issues ? Is it the blind itself or just the platform or both? I like to use square sections that snap together that are made of rubber. Then I have thick pieces of carpet that I’ll roll over the top of the rubber sections. Works great . It silences the metal plank sections (that you walk or stand on) with scaffolding.
These make fast easy work for elevated blinds.
CL has many listings for used teardrop uprights in many different heights.
Guys I don't have a dog in this hunt.. but I keep thinking for me at least ..do it to last longer than I will ..period ..I'm done licking the calf twice and after 70+ years of doing on the cheap ..cheap is more expensive overall cause you keep doing it ..so a little more $$ first is least in the long run
Just an old man's ramblings so pardon the interruption

Billy can have the blinds done in a week or 10 days I think. And if it's time that's the factor just have somebody weld up the base for you. My time is pretty limited, so I know how you feel! Fork over some money to have it done and then go pick it all up!
