Daughter scores her first ever deer!

We started several months ago learning to shoot a rifle. Several hundred rounds through the 22, and quite a few with the 243 we were very prepared.

Yesterday her and her friend decided they were going to set together. A loss of rock paper scissors gave her friend Madi the green light to shoot first.

That ended in a 8 point buck at 30 yards with a well placed bullet through both lungs. A short 60 yard track job lead us to her second and biggest deer!
This deer was quickly named Conway Twitty. Why I have no idea, but that is what 10 year old girls do is name things.
Emilee was now up and excited to go. Saturday evenings set was uneventful and yielded no deer saw! As the sun light faded you could see the disappointment grow.
After some discussion she decided that she would be back in the morning and today was going to be her day!

She talked her friend into getting up and going back with her.
We hung the tarsal glands off of madi buck this morning in hopes to help draw a buck in off tube ridge.
640 this morning the plan worked. This 5 pointer read the plan and worked up the ridge and right down wind of the glands.
Some intense moments and the deer was broadsided and in the crosshairs.
Boom went the rifle and immediately you could tell he was hit and hit hard. Head down death run of about 30 yards and he piled up in the field.

Huge hugs, high fives and some tears were shared and we soon walked right to this stud lying in the grass.

Millions of memories I have had in the deer wood . Have shared at least 10 first deer memories with kids and watched some of my friends from this site harvest multiple deer but none top this.
