My daughter has hunted every day of early youth season, every day of regular deer season except one, and this youth season as well. She hasn't gotten a shot at a deer until tonight. We did see a few but not nearly as many as normal. Anyway, I asked her where she wanted to sit tonight and she picked the stand. The wind wasn't the best for this particular stand but I figured, what the heck? Might as well give it a shot. We hadn't seen a deer for quite a while, it certainly couldn't be any worse than what's been seen. We weren't in the stand 25 minutes when a doe came busting out of the draw at about 150 yards and starting running right at us. She made it to about 100 yards and dropped back into the draw. While she was running at us, I grabbed her gun and got her ready. Sure enough, this guy popped out in the same spot but instead of running all the way into the draw, he made the fatal mistake of stopping at about 90 yards. She put a perfect shot on him and he ran about 50 yards into the wide open field and did the wobble dance. She was so excited that she had tears running down her face! He's not the biggest out there but I think you can tell by the smile on her face that he's plenty big enough!!
