For field shoots I use Browning A-Bolt 30-06
Woods I use my Marlin lever action .45 colt
ALso use my Lymman flintlock greatplains ML rifle .54 cal
This year thouhg I will be using my flintlock Smothbore American Lancaster .54 cal the whole rifle season.
My pistol back up is my Remington .45 colt or my pair of .50 cal flintlock pistols.
Guess I am just a tradionalist. My Marlin 30-30 has been killin them dead for years for me. I have been thinking of getting a 45lc lever action to match my Ruger valquero.
Hey Longbow26, do you ever have any penetration problems with the 45lc on deer and what load do you shoot if you dont mind me asking?
I use a different military surplus rifle every deer season. Just picked up this M95 Steyr Mannlicher that is chambered in 8X56R. This rifle was made in 1917 and was used by the Austrians in WWI and WWII by the Germans. Real neat little carbine that I will use in the timber. I have a K98k German Masuer that I have scoped for field work. Here's a pic of the M95. Also a pic of a M48 Yugo Mauser I have set up for deer hutning.
