Changing Line Size

I know several fish are not Line Shy but what about resistance?

On my Medium Heavy Rods I’ve always used 30 pound test. Most fish just hoss in don’t worry about the drag.

I’m going down to 12 pound test. I have brought in 35 pound fish using this and the drag it was sure fun and didn’t really have a problem bringing in the fish.

On my Light Action Rods I have 6 pound test Line. Have brought in all kinds of Pan Fish even a 6 1/2 pound Trout.

Going to 4 pound test Line. Have brought in plenty fish with 2 pound test Line so I figure 4 should be good.

It's deer season last I checked. Just sayin. :guitar::cheers:
Sounds like you have a good plan.

If you were one of those catch and release guys, heavy line is the way to go, but since you are a catch and eat type of guy, light line is da bomb.
Depends on if you are wanting sport or meat fishing.

Light line for the sport. Heavier for meat unless the fish in question are picky on what they bite on.

Don't matter if its deer season or not....Fish On!!

You may be killing the fish if using light line for sport, you wear the fish out while you are playing it, and it may never recover. Where if you horse it in, it has a better chance of surviving. and that is what Oneshot was alluding to, the fish being picky sensing the heavy line
Ah actually right now I'm unable to Hunt or Fish so trying to keep busy around the house.

:D  oneshot could be spending more time with the Big Grin.

If you think oneshot is letting fish go you've lost your mind!

Tell your wife to go kill a deer with a crossbow and you'll clean it for her so you can have something to do.

My wife has went hunting and found she hates it. Rather be Camp Sqaw, much happier .

I'm not able to clean one but she is good from Deer to Elk.

We was camping and hunting one time. I came back empty handed. She had a Deer cut up. Seems a guy killed a Big Buck all he wanted was the Head. She butchered it for the meat. Want to make her mad bring her a frozen Elk.
