I like my Tactacams, but they don't take the greatest nighttime photos at any distance. Awsome daylight photos. Biggest issue for me was getting a cam that works with limited or no cell service. They work great from that aspect.
If you login and go to your cam settings, night mode options are max range, balance, minimum blur (shortest range, best pic quality). I just changed one from max range (the deer were blurry) to balance. I did that 2 days ago, waiting to see if I am happy with pic quality vs range at night.

I've been using the Tactacam lithium rechargable. Thing lasts a long time. I usually grab it when I'm in the area of the cam and charge it while I'm doing other things.

All of my new Spypoints are Link Micro Solar. Haven't even budged off 100%

Thanks I had mine set at minimum blur. I reset to balance, see if makes a difference. The photos aren't bad just wish they were a bit clearer. Daylight photos are awsome. Now if my bucks would just cooperate and show up during daylight hours I would be a happy camper. What picture size are you set at?

you say 250 pictures a month on spypoint, I had one the other day that took 57 pictures one morning, does and turkey's.
Turkeys were hanging out all morning, out of the wind

OMG - it's really not that difficult!

When crap like that happens log into the app and turn the damn cellular send feature "off"

I don't care if it's wind, a herd of buffalo walking inline for two hours, or a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in front of your camera....shut off the send function!

The camera will continue taking every single pic so you won't miss a single thing but they will not be transmitted or counted against your 250 pics until you turn the send feature back on.......how much more explaining do I need to do????????

I need a solar for my spy point. I have one of the tactacam hooked to solar currently but I had an issue where the cam would just stop taking pictures after 3 or 4 days when hooked to solar, and the cam always read 100%, wondering about that. It’s been running since the weekend so far.

FWIW I have unlimited pictures. my above was a scnario in which the poster said they have their set for 250 pictures per month, and some days I get well over 50

I have pictures sent once a day, so I will not know this happened until I receive the pictures at noon.

I have a buddy who has his sent to send immeidalty and he is always sending me pictures, gets annoying

If I do what you said a normal person would do I would have missed, well not missed, but not known for weeks, that 2 days ago a nice 10pt visited one scrape before daylight and hit another scrape 400 yards away 2.5 hours later during shooting time. Maybe just look on the day I go hunting.

I have pictures sent once a day, so I will not know this happened until I receive the pictures at noon. I do not camp on my phone. when I am fishing I do not have a cell signal, depending on which tree I am hunting in, same thing.

Yeah............I imagine probably 95% of your existence is outside the reach of a cellular signal.......I mean that's why you have cell cameras right? LOL

If I were you, I'd probably give up fishing/hunting and find a safe space under a cell tower so you don't miss anything or newsflash.......increase your frequency of transmission. Amazing how that might solve your dilemma huh?

If I turn off the send and it takes 50 pictures every day, and 3 weeks later I tell it to send, is that 1 of 250 or 4,342 pictures?

Let me type real slow.........noooooooooooo.......you will not receive 4342 pictures.......those pics will be stored on your sd card but until you turn your cellular transmit back "on" only the pics taken from that point forward will be transmitted and included in your 250 total for the 3rd time.

Damn this really isn't rocket science despite you best efforts to make it so!

Yeah I would probably just go look. 🤣

Or you could
increase the transmission setting to a rate greater than once a day now couldn't you? If you're not finding out until noon tomorrow (your stated settings) what difference does it make when you find out he was at either scrape and at what time.....he sure as hell isn't there now right? I use cell cams to learn what is available to harvest......not as intel on where to hunt and at what time.

Another vote for Spypoint. All your cameras will always be active with at least the free plan. I select the ones I want to make active during certain times of year. Prices are reasonable and the "always on" free options makes it an easy choice for me. They get good coverage in our hard to reach corner of the ozarks.

$5 for 250 pictures vs $12 for unlimited, that is a no brainer

you say
"The camera will continue taking every single pic so you won't miss a single thing but they will not be transmitted or counted against your 250 pics until you turn the send feature back on."

then you say
".you will not receive 4342 pictures.......those pics will be stored on your sd card but until you turn your cellular transmit back "on" only the pics taken from that point forward will be transmitted and included in your 250 total."

I'm tired of spoon feeding you! Either you're dumb as a box of rocks or you are intentionally being obtuse.

Where on earth are you coming up with $5 for 250 pictures.....are you frickin' serious? 🤣 🤣 🤣

In my particular case being a member of the "Insiders Club" I pay a grand total of 27.5 cents per camera for 250 pics per month......where are you coming up with $5.00 ???????

Regarding your "then you say" confusion........both statements say exactly the same thing. I was just trying to simplify it for you so that you could understand it by explaining it two different ways.....obviously it still went way over your head.

How about you call me and maybe I can explain it to you in person where we have instant two way communication.....I'd be happy to do so if you think that would help.

Let me know and I'll PM you my number.

Tactacam here.
I manage settings on 12 cameras split between 7 guys in two states, that number will likely grow to 18+ next year. I personally own 6 of them. We all get the same pictures, split plan cost and batteries. It’s addicting

I was wrong due to I never did the 250 pictures per month as I never expected less than 8 pictures a day
If a person is NOT in the club it is $5 for 250 pictures

You were wrong because you can go back and reread EVERY single post I've written in this entire thread and see that I've never advocated for any single plan other than the "Insiders Club"

Not once ever.......in fact in one post I plainly state I've never even looked at any other option so I could offer no opinion.

By your pic it's clear you are running at least one Spypoint cam on the premium plan....what is your real world opinion of it since you have hands on experience with it unlike myself?

from the start I said I am running the unlimited plan

right now I have them set so I get pictures at 8am and 8pm, It does not notify me if there are pictures, I open the app and if there are pictures I get them, if no pictures it says no pictures found.
had them(2) out for a month in April then 6 weeks now and both show 92% battery
I have the cameras on low picture quality to save on battery life as I do not need to see HD pictures
I have one camera sort of acting up this week , right at dusk, it is too dark to take a good picture but to light to use the flash, so real grainy during that time, I think cause I hve it facing west and it is getting the dusk light..
here is a couple picture that I kept, I usually just look at all of them, then delete them but keep a few to send to the rifle hunters who hunt this property
I am hunting today and am going to pull them on the way out, as am heading to Kansas in a few days.

FYI. For those with Spy dollars, you can chat live and they will allow you to purchase an Insiders Club membership with that money. You can also use it towards plans, just have to ask them.

They are also phenomenal about swapping plans on cameras if you are running one cam with a larger plan and want to change it. Great customer service in my experience.

I signed up for the Insiders Club after advice in this thread. Definitely a no brainer if you are running several of their cams. The sharing function works great too.

If you have weak service, you can add external antennas to almost any device. Even if the manufacturer doesn't make an external antenna, you can easily get high gain antennas from other companies (like Wilson for example).

I've got poor service in my creek bottom but added extended cables and high gain antennas to a couple of my Spypoint cams. They now have decent service and capture every pic.

If you have poor service you'll likely notice decreases battery life as your modem has to work longer to transmit and stay locked onto poor cell signal. I can grab pics and part numbers if anyone is interested. Most cameras use a reverse polarity SMA connector on the antenna so you do have to be cautious when buying but it can be done.
Im south of you and my bottom field gets iffy reception. Neither A&TT or Version work well in low spot. Do you know what antenna type for Reconx and Tactacam. Im using external battery so power never a issue.

I'll take a look at my Tactacam connector today. I can shoot over a couple of antennas to try.
